Brief:
"You are to design and produce a concept piece of a DRAGON, using Mudbox or ZBrush in your workflow.
Although dragons are fantasy creatures the aim with this assignment is produce a believable creature so please reference appropriate real world scales, lizards, etc."
Scultping:
Insipration:
Also took inspiration from Raptor skulls and Snake skulls to learn the anatomy
Final Render:
Attempt 2: I had not seen rule number 2 on the brief " (Sculpt the whole figure, not just a head)"!!
So sculpted out a body
and combined with the head and teeth and rendered
I was learning to render with realstic lighting at the time in 3Ds Max
I had this image of bumping in to a huge dragon in a dungeon walking into it at the last minute it appears out of the darkness with your torch in your hand.
I also had not seen that brief wants the dragon to be mythical, so i added glider wings which came out well. Also want to add large boney wings out of the dragons back with powerful reastic shoulder muscles. however i struggle to create meshes that look likey boney wings.
next time I will produced a base mesh in 3D's Max and take it into Mudbox
